Vail Row House Working within confined property boundaries, we transformed this Vail Village row house into a stylish contemporary loft with materials that sustain the look and warmth of Vail living. In the vertically spacious interior, a palette of stone, cherry, and exposed structural steel was used to express the core architectural elements, including a sleek yet commanding staircase. In the living room, a modern “fire sculpture” was encased in steel and stone to provide a visual connection to the local mountain terrain, while smoothly formed concrete sinks in each unique bathroom maintain this modern interpretation on mountain living. The master suite was designed with a barrel-vaulted ceiling and exposed beams, and includes a 14-foot sliding wall that, when open, overlooks the spacious living area. A private roof terrace is accessible from the master suite and allows for the ongoing enjoyment of the home’s spectacular ski-slope views. An array of large windows on the home’s façade, including an impressive 100-square-foot copper-clad window, provides further visual access to the slopes, and allows for a steady abundance of natural light throughout the home.
